    What is Behest Radar?

    Behest Radar is a free, on-device shadow AI discovery tool that shows which AI services a machine is using and estimates what they cost. It works on its own on your machine, can report to the Behest AI control plane when an organization connects it, and is observe-only.

    Behest Radar observes on the machine itself, so it sees connections from apps, agents, CLIs, and browsers to known AI services, on or off the corporate network. It complements identity and SaaS tools, which see what it can't: account grants and AI inside SaaS apps. It is observe-only.

    See the AI tools on your machine, from coding agents like Claude Code and Codex to desktop apps and local models, which AI services they call, and how much. Behest Radar runs with no account and sends nothing unless you connect it to Behest Control, which also shows what your team uses AI for.

    Install Radar and start it with administrator access. No API keys and no changes to your AI tools. Radar shows which apps on your machine connect to which AI services, local models included.

    Count tokens and estimate cost

    With your permission, Radar reads the tools' own local records: token counts for Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Claude Cowork; list-price cost for Claude models. If you pay by subscription, the estimate is a list-price equivalent, not your bill.

Enforcement, such as model allowlists and budgets, comes from the Behest control plane, not from Radar.

    The download page lists every installer available today, each signed by Behest. The macOS installer is available now, and a Windows installer is on the way.

    Not by default. A standalone install sends nothing and has no telemetry, and Radar does not store or send your prompts by default. Once connected to Behest Control, it sends usage data at the sharing level chosen there. Tell people before you connect their machines. Only the full sharing level adds Git branch names, session titles, and redacted prompt excerpts; the discovery and metadata levels send no prompt content.

    No. Behest Radar is observe-only: it shows you what's leaving your machine but doesn't enforce anything itself. Enforcement is the job of the Behest control plane and its AI Token FinOps layer, not Radar.

    Behest Radar recognizes more than 20 AI agents and apps by name, including Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Cursor, plus local models and the browsers that reach AI sites. It shows their connections to AI services like OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and others. With your permission, it reads token counts for Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Claude Cowork, and estimates list-price cost for Claude models.
